Our purpose is to help Aotearoa New Zealand eat and live well.
With this meal range, we’ve focused on quality nutrition from whole foods in every mouthful. Each meal combines a smaller volume of food, with quality proteins (25-40g per serving), quality carbs and a variety of whole foods ingredients that contribute dietary fibre. We’ve also considered fat, sodium (salt) and vegetable content when developing each meal.
Choose from 3, 4 or 5 nights of meals, with options for one or two people. We’ll deliver the ingredients you need to your door, making it easier to prepare delicious, balanced dinners at home.
Our Smart Portion meals are small, balanced, protein-packed meals designed by our chefs and in-house nutrition team to deliver quality nutrition in every mouthful. They combine premium proteins, whole food ingredients and a variety of flavours in meals that are satisfying without being overly large. We’ve focused on nourishing, comforting meals that aren’t too rich, fatty or spicy. The result is a collection of delicious, easy-to-prepare meals. If you’re experiencing a reduced appetite or have concerns about getting the nutrition you need, speak with your healthcare professional or dietitian for personalised advice.
Our Smart Portion range has been developed with our in-house culinary and nutrition expertise. Each meal provides 25-40g protein from whole foods like fish, seafood, chicken and red meat. Meals contain quality carbs like wholegrains, legumes, and starchy vegetables and include 1-2+ serves of veggies per plate. We’ve considered the overall balance and volume of food on the plate. Recipes range from 250-450 calories per plate, giving you the flexibility to pick and choose meals that best suit your appetite and needs.
Smart Portion meals offer portions for people who prefer or would benefit from a smaller volume of food. This may include people whose appetite has reduced, due to medication such as GLP-1s, some weight management approaches, ageing or other life circumstances. As these meals contain less energy than our regular Fresh Start meals, they may not meet everyone’s nutritional needs. If you have ongoing appetite changes or specific dietary needs, speak with your healthcare professional or dietitian for personalised advice. Our regular Fresh Start range may be a better fit if you prefer larger portions.
It is best to get our regular Fresh Start meals that can feed either 2 or 4 people. Each week this menu has 20+ healthy recipes to select from with 5 recipes and 2 ready meals that are high protein (at least 40g per serve) which makes them ideal for others in the household with larger appetites! The easiest way to cater to the differing appetites is to cook a full high protein meal and portion a regular serve into 2 serves for yourself, saving one for lunch or another meal. If you'd like a more specific guide on how to adapt meals to be GLP-1 friendly, please contact our Fresh Start experts. - remove
For every recipe, we show you full nutrition information including the calories/kilojoules, protein, total fat, saturated fat, carbohydrate, sugars and sodium per serve. You can compare and choose the best option for you. For every ready meal we show you the dietary fibre too. Please note our per serve nutrition information is based on standard produce sizes and at times there may be variation or changes (e.g. you may receive different sized potatoes or carrots week to week, or variations in produce due to availability). This may impact on the volume of food on your plate and how full you may feel.
*Our experts provide general evidence-based advice to help you learn about food and how it can help to improve your health and wellbeing. Our advice shouldn't replace any personalised advice that you receive from a Dietitian or other qualified health professional responsible for your care.
